Custom Home in Martis Camp, Truckee

Martis Retreat is a year-round custom home for a family that splits time between the Bay Area and the mountains. The brief asked for a quiet, contemporary vocabulary that would still hold up to deep winters. The plan is anchored by a vaulted great room with a stone fireplace, and the volume steps down toward a separate guest pavilion linked by a glassed-in hall. Aerial siting was central to the design — every angle had to read intentionally from above.
